Who's Holly?

Since my break from Facebook-----------

I asked Petite if she wanted to go in the backyard with while I picked holly for our mantel "Sure, who's Holly."
Me-Oh-we're going in the back yard to pick holly for our mantel.
P-"Right, what does she look like?"
Me-THIS HOLLY ISN"T A PERSON.
P-So we're not picking up Holly.
M-Let's go out so I can show you.
P-Holly?
M-holly

Petite's Christmas Program was yesterday and she did well. I was nervous bc...earlier she said she would sing all of the songs except for The 12 DAYS OF CHRSITMAS.
Her shirt was "nasty" and not the shirt that is supposed to go under her outfit.

  • Cat died
  • I buried the cat
  • Blue's BFF's grandfather died suddenly
  • Blue's BFF was over here while mom and dad were at hospital

I told Petite that I needed to go to the gym tonight to get in shape. Her response: "What shape do you want to be?"

12 Days of Christas according to Petite

Petite is pretty upset. She is the Christmas Tree in the school program and the diamond ring is better and the Christmas Tree is "bowing." Her BFF is the diamond ring. Well........Petite is actually A Partridge in a Pear Tree, and her BFF is 5 Golden Rings and she still doesn't think it's very fair.

Day 2

ok, back to the Pre-K Christmas Program according to Petite. "On the first day of Christmas, Jay Love gave to me......A Jingle Bell Tree."

Snippits from Petite

We have 7 fireplaces. Me-No we have 6. Petite-not uh, the oven. You had a fire in the oven.

This after a conversation about which fireplace Santa uses. My answer-I don't know bc I am asleep.

Petite-Why do you wear a ninny cover(bra)?Me- To cover them. Petite-Oh-bc no one wants to see them?

Blue can just have A Twizzler. Will you get me the m&m's out of the jar?

I think she's serious

Petite-"What do you want to be mommy?" ME=A mom. A-"Oh so you want to be plain?"

Petite-I am going to marry someone named STEWIE bc that's a good name. HE is going to have blond hair and blue eyes. I am going to be a kid Dr. or a kid nurse. We will have 3 kids, a dog and a cat. Stewie is going to stay home with the kids while I work.

Piping Hot Javas

2 Children with extremely high fevers
Husband suddenly feels ill bc he does this when he is around sick children.
SO.....he went to bed at 7:30 and I am up with the kids.
I have already promised him that if he is sick in the am he is staying home with them.
His response: How will I take care of them if I'm sick?
Mine: You just do it.

I bet he'll go to work.

Southern Girl

Today is our field trip---
MOM do you think we have enough time to stop for a bisquit with the Countess?

Quotes and stories from this week (so I won't forget)

Pink Java put on her shoes(the same ones she refused to wear this morning) to run an errand and said,"I'll put these shoes on and I promise I AM NEVER WEARING THEM AGAIN."

" X Q Me I tooted." Pink Java

"Mom-you've grown a muffin top." Blue Java

Tattle from classmate at pick up.
"Blue Java did not have a good day, not good at all. Wait until you find out what he did."

Blue Java burst in to tears with his first demerit. FOR???
CLIMBING THE BATHROOM STALLS AND GETTING CAUGHT

Blue Java Quote

"If you're friends with the girls, you don't have to flirt with them."

Wednesday, October 14, 2009

I Don't Flirt

Someone in class asked Blue Java how to flirt. HE doesn't flirt with any girl in his class. His reason is perfect-"I've been with them since first grade." So he didn't have any advice for his friend and was kind of disgusted.
Meanwhile-his birthday is in July so he has to pick an alternate day to bring in birthday snack. To torment two girls in his class he decided that their birthday would be the perfect day. The mom called me wondering if I could talk to him bc she wasn't quite sure what was going on(she also found it humorous). I laughed, chatted with Blue and he has changed it to his half birthday which makes more sense. His version is the girls never even asked him to change it and "whatever. She came to my desk, looked at me and didn't say anything bc the teacher told her to work it out later. She should have said something."

I LOVE HIM.

New Sitter and Frozen Meat(made you think)

Our new sitter started yesterday. The kids love her and pick ups at both schools went really well.
When I came home from work the three of them were in the playroom playing kitchen.
Everyone had a great time. Tuesdays will be a breeze.

Yesterday I came home at 4:30 and had a meeting at 6:00.
Grande took the kids out to dinner.
I have to plan better. My BF from HS and I caught up yesterday and we think the answer is frozen meat. OUR parents both had freezers full and that's how they were able to have a main, a green veggie, and a starch. They took something out in the morning from the freezer and tried to figure out what they were going to do with it the rest of the day. Now that I think of it, they had two refrigerators and both freezers were packed. HMM-I have two and I think both freezers are empty.

Angry Housewife with a Head Cold

I have the urge to yell-75% of the time lately.
Blue Java and I can really get on each other's nerves. Yesterday he did 3 math problems on 3 different pieces of paper bc he was recycling. He didn't understand WHY I wanted them to be on one sheet of paper in numerical order.
Petite Java chose her outfit for today last night. Well this morning she went into meltdown bc she decided to wear pink"farkly" pants with an Inaugeration t-shirt, and pink shoes. When she put the pants on she cried bc they weren't as soft as she hoped.
I made her wear the outfit anyway.
Her lip is still a bit swollen from the dentist, she had on several shades of pink and due to the incident I had to walk her in to school since we were late.
I have given up on the playroom for about a week now. It needs to be marked off with yellow tape bc it hazardous.
I did empty the trashcan in there the other day to find liquids and mold at the bottom. I guess they decided that walking to the kitchen was too much for them. Drinks and Snacks are once again banned from any room other than the kitchen.
Grande left before 7 yesterday and didn't come home until after ten. Repeat today.
I vow the next time he is sick I am leaving him with 2 kids, a dentist appointment and I am going away.
As I write this, Petunia is in the shower.

THINGS THAT ANNOYED ME AND MADE ME LAUGH THIS WEEKEND

  • someone hurt my friend's feelings
  • this hurt my feelings
  • petite java went tubing
  • mil asked when Halloween was
  • seriously she asked the date
  • ONE TIME IN BAND CAMP-----when Grande was growing up the neighborhood trick or treated on a diff. day ONCE
  • THIS HAS NEVER happened since my kids were born yet every year she asks
  • The apple doesn't fall far from the tree bc Grande will ask when Thanksgiving is.
  • AND I WILL SAY the 4th Thursday of November
  • NOW that they have moved further North I can expect a 4-5 day visit
  • We have fruit flys/gnats
  • Dish soap, and vinegar works
  • IT works even better if you do an aluminum foil lid with pencil holes so they can't change their mind

Poop

I think one of the worst things ever is if your young independent child has "GI distress" or what my parents called "the green apple two step".
Petite Java thought it would be easier to just take care of things on her own, leaving disgusting panties in her bedroom yuck side down, AND in the bathroom.
So Blue Java stepped in poop-bc there was a trail.
Poor Petite probably thought she really pooped her pants and was trying to cover up (not saying she didn't poop her pants) but WE ALL KNOW WHAT I MEAN.
SO if you are my FB friend you will understand why she was in Granny Panties last night.

UGHH UGHH UGHH

UGHH.
I think I am on the verge of a nervous breakdown.
I don't think Grande has been home for dinner more than twice a week in about a year. He does not come home until 9:00 pm and leaves at 7 am. I know he is working but I'm not at home eating bon bons that's for sure. It gets pretty old cooking for my appetite, a 9 year olds and Petite. I think it is equivalent to cooking for 2. When I do leave a plate out it just goes in the fridge to sit and waste away.
I have had a sitter every week to watch the kids so I can attend school meetings. I need a little bit of normal. Just a little.
On a positive note I got together with friends and talked and laughed this morning. I am starting to hide Petite's summer clothes as they come out of the dryer.
I would like for her to go the non-cotton knit route to school some day!
Blue is practicing his recorder which is just payback from my days in elementary school. I smile and tell him it is wonderful.
Tomorrow the kids and I are getting together with my cousins husband. He has never met the kids.

This is what happens when your youngest is in school 5 days

So I will pick up two extra short days at work while Pink is in school. I have to keep reminding myself of that. It doesn't seem like a big deal but since I work in the am and on such a limited schedule , I do not like to take any time off.
Pink has dance on Wednesdays and leaves school at 11:30. Soon Mondays will be my day. I will have both kids at school and will not go to work. Maybe I'll make that a gym day. I haven't been in a while and things are starting to shift.

Grown Up SGA

So I kicked off the first day with
Back to School Coffee as President Elect for the HSA(PTA) for Blue Java's school
"The League" meeting is next week.
I guess I really never left Student Government.

Small Trivial Wishes

  • Pedicure
  • Highlights
  • Fabulous Bag
  • Black Boots
  • Jeans
Now I have a list I can refer back to. MY immediate needs with my paychecks have been dance lessons for Petite Java, Pool Snacks, School Lunches for Blue Java, money for camp next year.
Maybe my Fall wish list will turn in to my summer list as my new sandals goal has turned to Black Boots.
By the time I pay for Blue Java to return to camp, and factor in Christmas I may set a new record for the Longest Hair.
You know you're a grown up when-your wants are way way on the back burner and it's okay.

Stay Asleep

I could have stayed in bed all day.
I had a vivid dream. I was 17 ish and staying at this cool house with my parents. We were sorting candy for Halloween and talking about boys that liked me.
I love when I dream about my parents but hate waking up and that instant when I realize it was just a dream.

Kind Of Annoyed

SO.....
My BFF from HS has friended my husband Grande on Facebook.
Not a big deal? We are not friends in the FB world or in the real world. I think it's odd--maybe a way of seeing pics of our family without having to friend me?
Then since it was years ago....HS friends are suggesting that we become friends.
NO.

WOW!!

CRAZY ASS DAY

Petunia drug me with her in the rocky shallow creek. I walked home with blisters from our 4 mile jaunt drenched in dirty rocky water from my face down to my shoes and socks.

While pulling into the driveway, I was wacked driving Grande's work vehicle.
MIL was more concerned that Grande's vehicle will be okay....ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I'm fine thanks.

BLUE JAVA IS HOME-----HELLO HONORARY CAMPER!!!!!!!!!!
My sweet boy is home. He seems OLDER and WISER. HE is very grateful that we sent him to camp and would like to go every summer until he finishes COLLEGE as a Camp Counselor.
His plan is camp, Counselor in training in training, Couns. in Training, Couns., until he graduates from College.
That's my boy!

Petite Java and Blue Java

This has been incredible tough on us without Blue Java.
Petite told me this evening(our 4th dinner with only 2 Java girls) that she misses Blue more than me.
So sweet.

Left the Nest for a week

Blue Java is at camp. He was so excited this morning and anxious to go. He even apologized for complaining when I first signed him up.
I am going to have to start putting money away again so I can send him to camp next year.
It was pretty emotional dropping his stuff off in the cabin. He was ready for us to leave as soon as we arrived.
I have already sent him an e-mail today. Campers can receive one e-mail per day, printed and delivered to their cabin. There are ten of them in a cabin and he is excited that he is on the top bunk.
I miss him already. Petite has her daddy but Blue is my snuggler.

The Three Muskateers

Grande Java is working all of the time. Grande Java has been staying in the town where his work is a couple of nights a week since Grande Java works 15 hour days and commutes almost 3 hours a day.
Pink Java took the kids to the beach 7 hours away and came home 12 hours before having to work.
Grande Java is staying over night again.
Pink Java would like to be without both kids and spend the night alone in a hotel. I would throw in room service, add a pool, a cocktail server and a restaurant with a great breakfast. I of course would add my best girl friends to the mix.
A girl can dream.
WE are working our asses off as a family and I think we are all tired. His business if finally picking up and we are pushing through.

Wednesday, July 29, 2009

Stressed

I am stressed.
The business that Grande Java is in has picked up but I think ten months of changing our lifestyle is starting to take it's toll on the whole family.
It is truly times like these when I realize I don't have parents or aunts and uncles checking in.
I rely on my friends to keep me grounded.

Progress

Blue Java is reading a novel a week. We both love to read.
He is reading the children's version of Marley and Me. I think it's My Dog Marley.
I am reading Handle with Care by Jodi Picoult this week. It is good but making me have strange dreams.
I went to the gym today-yeah.
Petite Java loves Barbar School(VBS) and has memorized most of the songs. Her loud voice has been addressed daily. I am hoping my friend will gently remind the teacher that this is her normal tone and her loud voice is insane.

Monday, July 13, 2009

Things you pay monthly but don't really get your moneys worth

Birth Control-When you break it down you pay a daily rate --need I say more.

Gym Membership-So last month I gave money to the gym. SO far this month I have used it once. That's one expensive class.
I will try to go at least three times this week. 2 to go.

Thursday, July 9, 2009

Hmmmmmmm

Ok here goes.
We just found out the Grande Java's cousins wife passed last night. She had been fighting brain cancer for a long time.
Grande Java told his mom that he would TRY to take off of work so WE could all go up but if not I would come with the KIDS.
Does that mean I take the kids to the funeral or get a friend to watch them? I think he should go-not try to come with us.
Tomorrow is Blue Java's birthday. IT will be his first birthday ever that both Grande and I will be at work. Needless to say he is pretty upset, which breaks my heart but it is difficult to take time off when I only work once a week.
So with that being said I am tired of taking on the sad stuff alone. I am greatful that I get to stay home with the kids and witness the joy but the sad stuff stinks.
The last funeral Grande and I attended together was for my mom. The last four I have been solo, representing our family. I have also attended weddings solo over the years to have him meet me at the reception if he can.

I wish I were organized

I can not find a very important perscription.
It is very important.
I am supposed to take it daily, however it has been missing for two days.
Great. Just Great.

Done

I am going to the pool with the kids.
I am going to watch Petite Java jump off the side
slide down the slide
just be happy that they are home
play in the pool
make a great dinner
enjoy summer
stop being pissed about days prior

UGHH

Information from my Kids after being away
  • Peitite Java learned some negative things about Rockobomba
  • So did Blue Java
  • Yes they told them that he is only the Pres. by one vote
  • The kids each cried at least once for us but didn't call
  • Pepsi and Dr. Pepper were the drinks of choice
  • It feels better to cover all of your bug bites with band aids
  • Pepto and Pepsi is a new remedy for a tummy ache

Saturday, June 27, 2009

Seriously

I love how my kids do not call when they are away and my in-laws don't call me either.
This is another reason why they drive me crazy.
Maybe they should answer the phone.

To Grandma's House they GO

Ok so I am meeting Grande's parents half way today to give them the kids until Monday.
I packed a minimum amount of clothes, 2 swimsuits, Blue Java's cell phone and charger, and a checklist so everything comes back.
I went with soft cotton dresses that can handle stains and can live without Pretreater.
Blue Java has just enough shorts and shirts.
Grande's mom in years past has "lost" clothes only to have them reappear years later. Yes years later, she will offer Blue Java size 3 undies with Bob the Builder, or size 4 swim trunks that no longer fit. OR another shirt from who knows where, that she will swear is yours and you know for a fact it isn't bc you wouldn't never spend money on such an item.
When you call as soon as you realize the items are missing she has no idea what you are talking about.
I'm supposed to pack sweatshirts for the beach but am having trouble finding one for Petite. Blue Java has a couple of cheesy beach hooodies with the name of the beach on the back(they purchased and Petite doesn't have sweatshirts). She has a white monogrammed sweater but it will not come back white.
And I do not like it when my MIL washes the kids clothes. She uses the wrong detergent and lots of fabric softener. Blue Java needs Free and Clear for his sensitive skin, and for obvious reasons we do not use Fabric Softener on Underware for anyone!!
Off we go!

Observations from a Water Park

My Personal thoughts not exactly PC, Observations
  • IF you can think it, someone can tattoo it
  • One woman had stars tatooed from her boobs to her waist down the side
  • I wanted to salute her-not really
  • There are many many types of swimwear out there
  • I don't think it is necessary to accessorize at a water park
  • In some homes it is appropriate to grab your moms boob and jiggle it to get her attention(the kid was around 6)
  • Unless there is a medical reason A CHILD OVER 7 should not wear a swim vest to go down the slides, they should be in swim lessons.
  • I am sure that made someone mad
  • Locker Rentals are 10 bucks with a $10 deposit! We took our chances and left our bags on our table
  • A day in water=a good nights sleep

When in Rome....

Earlier in the week when we went hiking Petite Java and I were far far behind. She was also wearing Mary Jane Crocs which added to the delay.
The past few days have been rainy so we did some local shopping at Wal-Mart and stopped at a consignment store.
I bought Petite Java Nerf sandals with several velcro straps from the boys section and scored a Maya Black Sling at the Consignment Store for $15(I have two backpack carriers at home but didn't bring either so I wasn't going to purchase a third). This is the part that's out of the box for me. I was definately a baby wearer but never interested in the sling. I have looked online twice and did a practice run to make sure she is secure. Keep your fingers crossed.
I am going to wear her on my back in the sling when she gets tired and after promising that she only has to wear the shoes hiking and in the river she tearfully put them on.
We are leaving soon to go Hike Hike Hiking, Hiking in the woods-my new favorite song.
We are quite the trio in our mountain gear. Blue Java loves his Camel Back and any opportuinity he has to use it. It was his favorite birthday gift last year.
We will leave on Saturday to see Grande Java and then off to Great Wolf on Sunday.

Tuesday, June 16, 2009

Mountain Life

The kids are having a great time on our mountain vacation.
Petite Java is a fashion model hiking the trails and Blue Java has an outdoor gene that must be from a distant relative bc it is not from his parents.
Grande Java did not make the trip for the week but we are meeting him at a surprise destination for the kids.
We have seen snakes, deer, frogs, a large snapping turtle, beavers, woodchucks, and caught trout.
We have been hiking, and let the kids take breaks in the river. Today we took them to a gem mine and they loved it.
We are with another family and having a great time.
The big kids have been given some freedom here as we are in a gated community with only one entrance. Today we let them walk together, with a cell phone of course. They were promptly back minutes before their ETA.
Everyone is getting along great, there were three families here over the weekend and we are now back to our usual two.
Life is good, but would probably be less exhausting if Grande Java were here-well maybe not!!

Happy Go Lucky and pre tween angst

Petite Java has to be the happiest kid in America right now.
Blue Java is unhappy, angry, and never truly satisfied.
Any request is met by a sigh, huff, and a puff followed by short stomps. HE does it thoughtfully so as not to get yelled at for stomping, but I know he is stomping.
I am happy. The kids seem to both be pretty happy when we are at the pool. They have summer friends and the snack bar is open. I have cut back on pool food but they do get ice cream at the end of the day.
Our friend Morrie is on the up this week. It was great to see him. The kids played ball with the residents, and before lunch Morrie and I caught up on Facebook.
The kids leave for the mountains today and I will meet them tomorrow after work.

Wednesday, June 10, 2009

First Day

So Day 1 of Summer Vacation with Blue Java and he is on restriction.
No computer, wii, or any other game systems.
Added more chores and adivised him to go ahead and get started on his summer reading.
This sense of entitlement stops now-hopefully.
We are heading to the mountains this week, the kids leave tomorrow.
I am going to have heated episodes with Petite Java while there because there will be a few days when she will have to wear shorts, she will not be able to hike in a dress!!

I know I am an Adult BUT

So I was on FB this morning, and this person from my after hs days is a mutual friends friend.
I can not stand her. She caused so much misery for me and I still cringe when I see her face and name on FB.
She had a baby right after hs, and years later I was dating this guy on and off, and she told him he was the father. Not such a great situation when you are dating someone.
The strange thing was he was in the Army, about 30 minutes from where we grew up but the girl and I lived in the same neighborhood.
So a short time later I met someone through a friend and he told me he used to date her......he's the father.
Anyway-I still cringe when I see her name on FB.

Blue Java

Blue Java loves swim team practice. Yes I did sign him up first and tell him second but that's my special way with Blue Java.
He would rather be home on the computer, DS, Wii or any other thing that involves electricity.
Petite Java is going under water.
I love the smell of sunscreen and chlorine on my kids.
Blue Java's freckles are fantastic.
I just finished 3 Willows by the same author as the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants Series.
If you've read the series you will enjoy this one.
I like teenage books--I think it's from Scholastic Book Fair and working with Middle School Kids.
My pity party from last week is over.

Friday, June 5, 2009

Why?

Ok-
Petite Java is now 4 years old. Why does my mil still not know how to spell her name? It's really not extravagant and I think she has no idea what her middle name is, seeing how she puts a space in her name.
Come to think of it, she still spells my first name wrong, doesn't realize my last name has a hyphen.

Having Great Girlfriends is the best medicine

I have made the best of friends in Bisquitville and kept my BFF regardless of distance.
Today I touched base with so many of you on different things going on in my life.
I delivered Meals with a new friend.
I brought Petite Java and a friend to the pool so she could have swim lessons.
Storm and I hit the semi annual sale at Bath and Body Works after salads at Panera, where she listened to me bitch and moan.
I met two friends and their kids at the park after telling them I probably wasn't going to meet up with them bc I was in a foul mood. We had a great time catching up and discussing whether or not someone was a Whiskey? Come to find out it means the same as a little red.
Another friend picked up a gift for me so it was one less thing for me to do.
My BFF encouraged me to be PTA President Elect, telling me that it is so me, SGA Queen and all. I will let the school know on Monday. It just means the year I am Pres., Petite Java will be in Kindergarden.
The Countess came over and hung out while I fiddled in the kitchen and we gabbed and watched Oprah. She left me cookies and a sweet note.
I hope they all know that I strive to be that same friend that they are to me.

Wednesday, June 3, 2009

Yes today I am a little bit of an Angry Housewife

I know I am being a brat. Yes I can admit that.
Since it feels like the economy has taken a large crap on my family along with everyone else, I am now going to drive a sedan.
Yup. I know I shouldn't bitch.
BUT-
I love my truck.
My lovely husband has a car, which I didn't give two shits about bc I love my truck and he was supposed to drive this car. I didn't have much of an opinion about what he was going to drive.
This car without a sunroof, and seats 4.
Right before school gets out when I am used to having a full truck of 7-8.
Right before travel.
Positive-One car payment.
Negative-We had one before he bought said car.
Positive-I never have a vehicle long enough for me to get that mad.
Negative-I am still mad.
Positive-I get to stay home with the kids but did start working once a week.

Ok--I feel better already.

Java People Drive Me Nuts

Blue Java-
Wanted to know why I didn't sign him up for Dive team too
Had another tummy ache at 7:50-right before school
Grande Java-
Asked if I could get my truck cleaned while Petite Java is at school
Would that be in September bc school got out last week!
Petite Java-
Bitching that she doesn't have swim lessons until Thursday, slept for 8 out of her usual 12 hours
On the plus side
Blue Java-
Had fun at swim practice
Grande Java-
Makes coffee everyday
Wakes me up everyday so I don't have to set an alarm
He even calls back 10 inutes later to make sure I am up
Petite Java-
Goes under water this year
Loves the pool

Sometimes there are no choices

Blue Java is on his way to school pissed that he has swim team practice. He didn't want to swim on the team this year but most of you know Blue Java rarely wants to do anything that is my idea-as far as extra curricular. If there was a Video Gaming Club, he would be President.
The chicken pox is going around town. It is definately wait and see. The kids have been vaccinated against them, but it doesn't mean they won't get them.
I made a trip to see my BFF and managed to do it without my MIL knowing.
SO FAR.
My MIL isn't good at sharing and it has never occured to her that my friends would like to see the kids. Sometimes I have to be sneaky. I have tried to visit both on short visits but it never works. They are late bringing them to me, or just won't answer their cell-even better.
I think they are coming to visit this weekend-which is why I had to be sneaky bc two weekends in a row would be painful.

Snippits for the Weekend

Petite Java-"I love you mom, but I love Daddy the most."

Blue Java-"This must be advanced math bc my brain hurts."

A friend-"Yup forgot. Bought the gift at Food Lion."

I am reading..."The ex-Debutante" by Linda Francis Lee.
Funny stuff. Last summer I read Devil in the Junior League, also by Lee.
Off for a quick weekend visit. Don't tell my mother in law.

One or NONE, followed by the Fire Station

So Petite Java and I were at TJ Maxx. I let her pick one thing-either Tinkerbell lipgloss or Hannah Montana make up with some birthday money.
She couldn't decide, 10 minutes pass.
One or none. I am going to count to three. She did E,M, M , Mo, but still couldn't decide.
So she was determined to get both. I was determined one or none. We left with none.
So as you can imagine Petite Java was a mess, pitched a fit, and unbuckled twice.
The third time I buckled her I thought it was over with until she unbuckled as truck was in motion. I pulled into the Fire Station.
At this point she lost her mind, promised to buckle. As I came around to her side, a truck pulled in and parked right by us.
The firemen graciously had a little chat with her. Of course Petite Java was trying to close her door so she didn't have to talk to them.
She promised she would always be safe and never do it again.
They gave her a hat and a sticker.
She does not want Grande Java to know.
Oh Happy day.

my girlfriends this week

after a conversation when my eyes were misty
"Are you PMSing or something?"
Curly hair on a humid day before meeting up with friends
"Maybe you should try to smoosh your hair a little bit."

Thoughts on the brain

I love how everyone sends all of these great holiday appropriate status updates on FB.
Lots of shout outs to people they know who have served in the military, messages to dads they have lost.
Yes my dad served in the Air Force for many many years. Yes I am appreciative. After he retired they adopted me.
My dad isn't here, he didn't die during war, he died from a sudden, massive heart attack, the day after we had brunch, and an hour after he told me ,"Don't worry Punk(in) meet me at the hospital with your mom."
So yes I am thinking of him but not bc he served our country, or that he is buried at a Veteran's Cemetary but because my parents were all about the BBQ matching flag shirts, and the big sales.
Now I am off to get the ingredients for my mom's potato salad-Grande's favorite. He doesn't even like his moms! He is working but is looking forward to potato salad, corn on the cob(the way my mom taught me how to make it) and perfectly grilled burgers!

Such a sweet girl

Petite Java and I were alone while the boys went to see Star Trek.
It was too cloudy to go to the pool, so Petite Java suggested we go see Morrie.
We got there right before chapel. She is so sweet and caring with all of the residents. She sat next to Morrie, "read" the songs, and then collected the books.
We had ice cream with him in the "Ice Cream Parlor" . Morrie told me that he was feeling lonely today so he was so glad we came. How do you not get a little teary? We visited for a while, posted a pic to FB and went our separate ways. We will see him on Thursday. I love watching the two of them interact. Today they sat across from each other, one with chocolate, the other with vanilla, and didn't say much-just smiled and enjoyed their ice cream after church.

I did not protect my young

Ok-
Major fear of birds. Bigtime.
So I am cleaning the kitchen and a bird flies in through the doggie door into the kitchen, perches in the pantry.
I scream, close all of the doors, tell the kids I am running to the neighbors. No one is home. My cell is in the kitchen.
At this point the bird flies through the butler's pantry into the house. I have closed all of the doors. The kids are in the front room.
I run, grab my phone and lock myself in the playroom.
The kids can't make a run for it, as the bird is now in the room next to them. What do they do? Hide under blankets with their heads poking out so they can watch a movie. When they hear the bird they cover their heads.
I called three neighborhood friends and finally Countess gets ahold of her husband and sends him over.
5 minutes pass, the cats think Nissan has killed the bird, I crack the door open between the playroom and the kids --the bird is standing there. The kids take cover and the bird starts squalking.
I think I am going to pass out. I am sweating profuseley. The Count pulls up, looks for the bird. I am kind of embarassed that I am telling him it is in the room with the kids, and they are under a blanket.
I manage to toss him a Barbie net, he opens a window and lets the bird go.
My kids come out from under the blankets dripping with sweat.
Ok-So I think I was able to process that it was my fear and the kids weren't in danger otherwise I would have rescued them.

Weekend Update

Grande Java was out of town. He is back but at work.
The kids and I are going to clean up, again, do some laundry and we will be poolside.
I haven't been to the gym in a few weeks and should be motivated bc it's pool season but I'm not.

I am the Captain of this ship and I need a telescope

Well I thought I was the captain of the ship.
Apparently Petite Java is.
Today started with Field Day. I manned the Drink Tent-3rd year in a row. If the woman next to me said one more time that the kids were complaining about the strength of the Gatorade I was going to lose it.
Maybe she could have told me that there were two more containers in a bag, hidden under the table. Ya think?
So someone mixed the Gatorade before I got there, with 75% ice making it impossible to stir, kids complaining. Yeah. 2 minutes into it I hear my name, followed by Blue Java crying. 2 minutes into field day he gets smacked by a kickball on the left side of his face.
Went to a local hot dog joint after. Never consume two dogs" all the way" with chili cheese fries and then go to the park. Not good.
Followed by friend over for Blue Java. Dinner with friends. Dropped off friend, played in neighborhood with more friends.
Dropped off friend of sisters friend for mom. Put a hold on talking-lasted maybe 1/4 of a mile.
Saw Petite Java's friend at park, hung out for 5 minutes.
Grande Java out of town.
Petite Java is still wide awake, standing on the bed saying "I'm not jumping."
Off for a much needed shower and maybe just maybe I will paint my toes.

This is how my night ends.....Kind of gross

Blue Java--I pooped and it's the size of my arm.
an hour later........
Blue Java-Will you look at it? I didn't flush it.
Me-It's the size of your arm. Why didn't you flush it?
Blue Java-I don't think it's going down.
Me-Flush. Plunge. Repeat.

Halfway there...Livin on a prayer

IT was chilly this morning.
Petite Java took one look at the outfit I picked out and threw it on the floor. Next step breakfast-threw it in the trash. Last straw-took her to school in her nightgown and dressed her at school.
Grocery shopping, three diff. stores completed. Met a friend for lunch in between.
Picked up Blue Java and friend. Off to get running shoes before meet, hopefully Grande Java will meet us this evening.
Snacks and drinks waiting to be packed, leaving me 2 hours to unload groceries, change Blue Java, get gas, and go to the meet which is an hour away.
Tomorrow we get to sleep in, Blue Java gets to go to school late, and Pink Java and I have Meals on Wheels, Grande Java has a day trip, and I have a girls thing later - which I am co hosting at my crib. Great. Did I mention I also have to cut a pineapple and drop it off somewhere this evening before I get Blue Java shoes?
Yikes.

I did

I did not clean.
I did go to the pool.
I did not have to go in.

Saturdays kind of Stink

I am not a fan of Saturdays. I like them but I do not love them like most people. Grande Java works on Saturdays. I love sleeping in on Saturdays but I look forward to Sundays. Grande Java has been working 6 days a week.
Saturdays are busy in Bisquitville as they are in most towns. Saturdays I try to stay at home. The kids and I stay in our jammies for the better part of the day. We clean, we fry our brains on electronics, and Petite Java will try my patience.
The pool opens this weekend. Tempting but Petite Java would probably want me to go in with her. NOT today.
My goals for today are simple-
Take a shower
Finish Laundry
Straighten Playroom
Drop off some C-R-A-P at the consignment store.
I am looking ahead to next week and know that I need a head start. I have a busy week next week with Blue and Petite Java. Grande Java is already booked on his day off and I am co hosting a gig in the beginning of the week.

Friday for Me

Today I hung out with grown ups. Today I wore grown up clothes and went to work. Yes don't choke.
I am working on Fridays. As most of you reading this know Grande Latte is in a business that has been effected by the economy.
Most of you reading this also know that Pink Latte enjoys going out to lunch and buying things. I also have a love for shoes and fabulous bags. I haven't purchased either in a while and I am starting to get the shakes.
Michael Kohrs misses me as much as I miss him.
Morrie and I checked FB today and surfed the web checking out the dogs he used to show and judge. We commented on his grandsons pics of FB. My job was to write -"Grampa says ......" It was a lot of fun.
Morrie forgot his suspenders so it took us a while to get started, then he had some water on his pants and someone thought his pants were wet. Please please do not piss this man off. He just walked all the way to his room to put his suspenders on. He said "Yes they are a little wet but IT IS NOT WHAT YOU THINK IT IS! Luckily I found a nurse, she was able to get a pad and put it on the chair. Seriously I was thinking if he has to walk back, take off his suspenders and find another pair of pants I am going to have fit too. So anyways, Morrie did not pee his pants, I knew it and he made sure everyone else knew it too. Just so you know, Morrie was 6 ft .4 before he started shrinking. He told me he thinks he's about 6 3. now. He uses a walker/chair combo on wheels and keeps his large cup of water with him at all times. I am positive he sat in a little spilled water from his cup!
So after today I have decided that we can just surf the web through me, his family can post pictures to my e-mail and their FB. I do not want to cause him any frustration.
Oh and btw he told me that his grandson is getting custody of the kids and he and his wife are separating. The grandson told me that his dad said that Morrie hasn't been doing so well. The nurse told me that Morrie was in sad mood today and she was glad I was there to visit.
Umm Hello, I am not actually related to Morrie but love a little dirt.
Oh and Petite Java had a field trip to the Fire Station and reported -"The firemen are all Men and they are strong and cute."

Age is just a number

Today Petite Java and I had our weekly visit with her 92 pal. He lives in a residence primarily for people with memory loss. He doesn't have this at all, but lost his wife a few months ago.
I am living my own version of Tuesdays with Morrie.
I think Morrie(that's what his name will be) stays so young because he reads the paper, watches the news, and takes notes.
So today on my coolest visit ever, Morrie asked Petite Java if the bug on her purse was a twitter. He then asked me what this Twitter bug was. So I went to the library, made sure the internet was connected, and showed him the Twitter page. Next stop Facebook, followed by yahoo and a little gooogling.
We were able to find his grandson on FB(he is around my age so I thought it was worth a try). We sent him an e-mail. Next we googled his son and we were able to look at photos.
Tomorrow I am happy to report that I am going to visit again, bc his grandson friended me on FB and replied to our message.
Morrie was so excited and amazed. He is impressed with technology. Tomorrow I may set up a gmail account for him!

I do not love this town 2 blocks over

  • I'm thinking bullets-as in format.
  • The dog park causes too much stress
  • Petite Java may not have Nilla Wafers for dinner
  • A cold beer after a stressful incident makes things better
  • Sometimes a cigarette with alcohol is a great combination
  • I yelled back at a woman for yelling at me at the Dog Park
  • She could've kicked my ass
  • I was saving my daughter from being trampled by a pack of dogs
  • No I wasn't watching mine while I was saving her
  • Let me know what happened and let me apologize
  • Starting off yelling at me isn't going to lead to us being friends
  • If I see you in public with your 6 dogs I will stare you down
  • No that isn't "League" attitude
  • People like that should not be parents of children or animals

I love this town

Today I picked up produce from Food Lion which they donate to a local kitchen. The kitchen provides lunch to those in need.
I picked up 5 cases today. I love how this town is filled with volunteers and do gooders. I absolutely love being a part of it.
I stopped by and brought flowers to the church secretary/book keeper. From having worked at a Private School, I know this is a person you always want as an allie.
Petite Java was with me for it all. She is a mini me when it comes to volunteering. Our weekly visits to her 92 year old friend are proof of her giving heart.
I am telling you all of this because by doing something nice I was able to get over my foul mood from this morning.
Even if you don't do it every week. Try. Try to do something extra nice-I know you are nice all of the time-aren't we all? Send a card, e-mail, or buy a candy bar for someone. Make it an intentional act of kindness.

Trials of Grade School

On his way to brush his teeth and go to bed, I noticed a red folder labeled Social Studies.
Blue Java has a Social Studies report due tomorrow. He lost his original research that I helped him with last week.
Instead of looking for said worksheets he decided to do a different President.
On top of all of that it had to be written in cursive. Great. I haven't written in "proper" cursive in I don't know- 25 years.
Grande Java arrived home in the nick of time, managed the tears and helped Blue Java finish his report.
Petite Java woke from her 3 1/2 hour nap at bedtime. She is now watching a little Noggin. Her trial Hip Hop class knocked her out on the way home. Maybe she will be the Fly Girl I always hoped to be. Her dancing gene certainly does not come from me.

Play Doh

Petite Java received her first Play Doh contraption. She is the complete opposite of her brother, Blue Java when it comes to toys that do things. She keeps asking me which color is supposed to go in, where it goes and how to do it. She is definately more of a pretend play kind of kid.
This is also the same child that asked for an Ice Cream Maker for her birthday.

The Monday After

Today I am sitting in the aftermath.
Friday was Petite Java's dance recital. Saturday was Petite Java's Birthday and Sunday was Mother's Day. My inlaws were in town all weekend.
I took the day off yesterday. I watched tivo'd episodes of The Hills and Real Housewives. My lovely family also bummed it so everything was just put on hold until today.
